Ohio State running back Trey Sermon leaves national championship game with apparent injury

Things have not started well for Ohio State in the national championship game. Alabama got off to a quick 7-0 start, and in addition to that, it appears running back Trey Sermon may have sustained an injury on OSU’s first drive. He was seen heading to the locker room holding his shoulder and upper body after his first attempt was stopped after just a two-yard gain.

Sermon has been a serious weapon out of the backfield for Ohio State late in the season, and that has made the Buckeyes that much more dangerous on offense. If he’s unable to go, that leaves it up to Master Teague to carry the majority of the load. Teague is back from concussion protocol, but things get thin after that with Myan Williams unavailable for the game.

As we have more on Sermon, we’ll get you more information.
