Ohio State is sitting idly by, prepping for the season and it appears the major polls are doing the same. The Buckeyes stayed steady in the most recent release of the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports and did the same in the Associated Press Poll that was also revealed Sunday, remaining also No. 6.
It’s clear that some of the pollsters don’t really know how to treat the Buckeyes and the rest of the Big Ten and Pac-12 as all of those Power Five teams wait to begin the season. Some voters aren’t even including teams on their ballot that have not played, while others are voting based on how good they think those squads are.
Ohio State is the only team not named Alabama or Clemson that received first-place votes (two of them), and you have to wonder what will happen after Ohio State actually gets on the field and shows what it can do.
Anyway, back to the AP poll, the top ten consists of Clemson (1), Alabama (2), Georgia (3), Florida (4), Notre Dame (5), Ohio State (6), Miami (7), North Carolina (8), Penn State (9), and Oklahoma State (10)
POLL ALERT: Oklahoma, UCF fall out of Top 25 after day of upsets; Iowa State back in; Clemson, Alabama stay Nos. 1-2.
