Ohio State relief pitcher Andrew Magno selected by Tigers in 2019 MLB Draft

If you were like the rest of us and got caught up in the late-season run by the Ohio State baseball team, then relief pitcher Andrew Magno needs no introduction.

Simply put, in the words of head coach Greg Beals, “When you have a stud, you take him to the post.” That’s exactly what the Buckeyes did in the Big Ten Tournament and beyond. Magno was the band-aid to stop the bleeding on more than one occasion, collecting four saves in all four OSU victories in the B1G Tournament. Along the way, he collected the Big Ten Tournament MVP.

Apparently the Detroit Tigers have taken note because they picked up Magno in the 15th round of the 2019 MLB Draft today. The 5-11, 190 lb. spark plug is just a junior, but this selection will end his career at Ohio State as he enters into a new journey and chapter of his life.

Magno is a coveted lefty that has a plus fastball that combines with a pretty nasty curveball. Look for him to develop more velocity and another pitch or two to be effective at the next level.

He had the following replaced on Twitter thanking many that got him to this point.

Good luck Mags!
