Ohio State receiver L’Christian “Blue” Smith leaves program

When Urban Meyer got to Columbus in 2012, he was not all that impressed with the Bucks receiving corp. However, Meyer made it a priority to get that cupboard stocked and it showed this past season with what many believe was the most talented WR unit in the country.

With that talent comes competition. We found out that a highly touted recruit from Huber Heights Wayne, L’Christian “Blue” Smith as decided to leave the Buckeyes after only one season in the Scarlet and Gray.

Smith was the No. 5 athlete and No. 124 overall prospect in the country in 2018. He was redshirted his freshman year and has now decided to look at other opportunities for his future.

Never fear though Buckeye Nation, the shelves are still fully stocked with good hands people in Columbus. Returning are a talented group of upperclassmen as well as up and coming Chris Olave and five-star early enrollee Garrett Wilson.

And it may be getting even better as the No. 1 and 2 receivers in the 2020 class, Julian Fleming and Rakim Jarret have both put some interesting Buckeye talk in their twitter feeds. Our own Phil Harrison reported on this earlier in the week.

As always, we hate to see a youngster leave the program but understand each individual must do what is best for them. We wish L’Christian Smith all the best where ever he may land.
