Ohio State QB Justin Fields named semifinalist for AAU James E Sullivan Award

Ohio State rising junior quarterback Justin Fields has been named one of thirty-three semifinalists for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award. According to the awards’ website, the recognition is handed out annually to “the outstanding amateur athlete whose outstanding athletic accomplishments are complemented by qualities of leadership, character and sportsmanship.”

Fields came to Ohio State from Georgia and emerged as one of the most dangerous weapons in the country in his first year under center, eventually earning a trip to New York as a Heisman Finalist. He completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 3,273 yards and 41 touchdowns last season to go along with 484 yards and ten TDs on the ground.

The Sullivan Award has been in existence since 1930, with two Buckeyes winning it recently. Ezekiel Elliott was recognized in 2015, and OSU wrestler Kyle Snyder won it in 2018.

Whether or not Fields wins the honor remains to be seen, but simply being recognized is quite the accomplishment in itself. You can vote for Fields here, and also see the other finalists on the list.
