Ohio State punter Drue Chrisman named to the Ray Guy preseason watch list

He can bottle-flip and he can propose in front of thousands of fans, but those are just side hustles. What Ohio State punter Drue Chrisman is really known for is his ability to punt a football — just ask Michigan State.

Or … just ask the Augusta Sports Council that is in charge of the Ray Guy Award. That’s because it announced those bottle-flippers … er — punters that are on the preseason watch list and Chrisman is one of 26 athletes appearing.

Chrisman is entering his junior season and has already been a semifinalist for the award his first two years. He was an All-Big Ten Honorable mention last year, leading Ohio State to the best net punting average in the Big Ten (something seems off with that).

The Ray Guy Award has been handed out since just 2000 with the Buckeyes having just one winner, B.J. Sander back in 2003. It of course goes to the best punter in college football annually. Chrisman should have a great shot to win it this year.

Like many of the college football awards, the winner will be announced during the Home Depot College Awards show on ESPN Thursday, December 12.
