Ohio State players in the 2019 NFL Draft: Kendall Sheffield selected in 4th round by Atlanta Falcons

At this point in the draft you’re looking for good value on picks, and the Atlanta Falcons may have just gotten that with one of –if not the — fastest player available. That’s because Ohio State defensive back Kendall Sheffield is now off the board rather early in the 4th round.

Sheffield’s journey is a unique one. He was originally a five-star recruit that signed with Alabama, but got lost in everything going on in Tusacloosa and went the JUCO route before signing with Ohio State and getting on the field for two years.

Blessed with blazing speed, Sheffield is also a track star and holds the Ohio State school record in the 60-meter dash. We were all waiting to see how he measured up to Parris Campbell in the 40 at the NFL Combine, but a pectoral muscle tear suffered during the bench press kept him from participating further in Indianapolis.

All indications point to him being ready to go. His on the ball coverage skills need a little work, but with the right development he can use that speed to be a difference maker for the Falcons.
