Ohio State places six players on All-Big Ten Softball teams

By all accounts and measures, it’s been a successful season so far for the Ohio State softball team. The Buckeyes wrapped up the regular season last weekend by taking two out of three from Iowa to finish with an overall record of 34-15 and 17-6 in the Big Ten.

The finish was good enough for fourth place in the conference and a No. 4 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Softball tournament. But the team didn’t get there without some outstanding performances throughout the season. To that end, the Big Ten released its All-Big Ten Performers today and Ohio State had six players recognized.

Lilli Piper and Emily Clark made the First Team, while Bri Betschel, Ashley Prange, and pitcher Morgan Ray made the Second Team. Prange was also recognized on the All-Freshman team, while catcher Claire Nicholson made the All-Defensive Team and won the Sportsmanship Award.

Here is the complete release from the folks at Ohio State with more detail. The Buckeyes are in action this Friday at 11 AM. They will take on the winner of Iowa and Wisconsin in a quarterfinal matchup of the Big Ten Softball Tournament.
