Ohio State picked to win Big Ten by two of the four ESPN College Game Day crew members

It’s that time of year. It’s here. College football has finally arrived with the kickoff of the season happening in Orlando with Florida and Miami squaring off Saturday night.

Of course, that also means we had our first ESPN College Game Day show this morning from the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World. We know for certain that Mickey Mouse is not a Wolverine fan, but we digress.

As is customary, the Game Day crew made picks on who will win the Florida vs. Miami matchup. But, since it was the first show of the season, the crew also made picks on which teams would win each conference.

There are four members of the studio crew that went out on the limb, and when it was time to pick the Big Ten, two of them picked Ohio State. Of course if you’ve been following recent news, you know that Kirk Herbstreit already picked Ohio State to make the College Football Playoff, so he’s one of them. The other was Lee Corso.

That leaves former Michigan wide-receiver and Heisman winner Desmond Howard and guest picker Michael Irvin. Of course Howard couldn’t pick Ohio State being a Michigan guy, but instead he went for Wisconsin. In other news, I’d like to put down a friendly wager with Howard on his picks.

And then there’s Irvin, who went with the popular opinion this year and picked Captain Khakis to finally break through and get his first conference championship since coming to Ann Arbor.

It’s been interesting to see the sentiment swing a bit when it comes to Ohio State’s chances of bringing home some hardware this year. While most everyone has been on the Michigan bandwagon early on, those opinions have started to self-correct a bit and go with the team that has the most talent.

The countdown is down to just seven days before Ohio State kicks things off against Florida Atlantic.
