There have already been a slew of predictions on all things college football as we get ready to kick things off in full force this weekend. Where Ohio State goes on the season has varied depending on what website or publication you fancy.
As we’ve gotten closer to the season though, some of the national experts have begun to warm up to the idea of the Buckeyes being a title contender despite a new head coach and new quarterback under center.
Count USA TODAY’s Erick Smith in that camp as well. He just came out with his bowl preseason bowl projections for 2019, and Buckeye fans will like where he has them jumping on a plane to.
That’s because he has the Ryan Day and the crew winning the Big Ten and headed to the College Football Playoff. Specifically, he predicts OSU to go out to the desert to play Alabama in the Fiesta Bowl.
But don’t get too excited if your hopes rest on the ultimate goal of bringing home a national championship. No, Instead Smith has Ohio State bowing out against Alabama to set up another Tigers/Tide matchup for all the marbles.
