Ohio State, Penn State headline first College Football Playoff Rankings

Well, this probably comes as no surprise to Michigan State fans who were subjected to watching beatdowns at the hand of these two Big Ten powerhouses, but the College Football Playoff rankings were just released on ESPN before Michigan State’s matchup with Kentucky at Madison Square Garden and Ohio State and Penn State were ranked number one and number four, respectively, putting them smack dab in the middle of the College Football Playoff picture.

Ohio State and Penn State still have to play each other on November 23rd, so that could determine who stays in and who is forced to watch the playoffs this year. Ohio State will also have to get by Michigan on November 30th. Penn State faces Minnesota this weekend so that will be a test as well as PJ Fleck, who just signed a new deal, has done a great job with the Gophers this year.
