The Buzz: This battle between Pennsylvania powers has national poll implications, with Penn State continuing its early push for a College Football Playoff semifinal bid. The Nittany Lions, who lost last season's meeting with Pitt 42-39, are riding an eight-game home win streak at Beaver Stadium. Penn State tailback Saquon Barkley earned Big Ten co-offensive player of the week honors after rushing for 170 yards and two touchdowns against Akron in the opener. Pitt, meanwhile, allowed an ACC-worst 7.1 yards per play on defense against Youngstown State in the opener.
