Ohio State offensive lineman Luke Wypler latest to lose his black stripe

It’s been a black-stripe removal parade lately for the Ohio State football team. After two more newcomers shed their black stripes on Tuesday, we had another on Wednesday when freshman offensive lineman Luke Wypler joined the fray.

At 6-foot, 2-inches, and 285-pounds, Wypler was rated as the No. 2 center in the 2020 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He hails from St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey.

As all of the honorees do when they have their black stripe removed, Wypler had a few words for his teammates.

“Hey, I just want to say a big thanks to coach Mick (Marotti) and his staff, (athletic trainer) Shaun (Barnhouse) and his staff, and (nutritionist) Kayla (Olson),” said Wypler. “Go Bucks!”

You can watch the brief ceremony below courtesy of the Ohio State Football Twitter account.

There’s now only about a week and a half until Ohio State kicks off the season against Nebraska, and we’ll have to see when the rest of the newcomers have their stripes removed. Stay tuned …
