Ohio State moves up in the newly released AP Poll

After two weeks of being stuck at No. 6 in the AP college football poll, Ohio State has moved up. After administering a public flogging over the Miami Redhawks 76-5, the Buckeyes have catapulted up one spot to the No. 5 position.

This comes on the heels of the scarlet and gray remaining at No. 6 in the Amway Coaches Poll released earlier in the day.

So, what team did OSU pass? It leapfrogged an idle Oklahoma to get itself back into the top five where it began the season. It was a truly dominating performance Friday — and with Oklahoma off — the pollsters likely got a better chance to see Ohio State and decided to nudge it ahead of the Sooners.

With what we’ve seen from the Buckeyes so far in 2019, they probably should have never moved down anyway. It hardly matters though with the College Football Playoff Poll holding all the weight, but it’s still interesting to see where the national perspective stands.

Here’s the rest of the top ten. Note that Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU are still ahead of Ohio State, and also note that Notre Dame stays in the top ten despite the loss to Georgia.

That’s right, the pollsters again grade on an SEC curve.
