Ohio State, Michigan players had to be held back during tense halftime moment, and fans loved it

The intensity of the Ohio State-Michigan game didn’t stop when the first half in Ann Arbor ended Saturday, and when the teams headed to their respective locker rooms for the break, there was a heated exchange between the two squads, as officials and others tried to keep them separated.

The No. 5 Wolverines held a slim 14-13 lead over the No. 2 Buckeyes at the half, and the rivalry-game intensity was clear on the field, with players on both sides chirping at each other and occasionally offering extra shoves at the end of plays. And those emotions — especially with a Big Ten title game appearance on the line for the winner — carried over into the locker rooms.

In the Michigan Stadium tunnel near the locker rooms at the break, Ohio State and Michigan players were seen yelling at each other, throwing up middle fingers and trying to push their way toward what could have morphed into an ugly situation. FOX Sports’ broadcast confirmed this happened at halftime.

Unsurprisingly, the refs blowing their whistles did little to calm the situation, but at least they tried.

Eventually, the teams retreated to their respective locker rooms, but college football fans couldn’t get enough of this rivalry and the passion that comes with it.

And it continued once the second half started.
