Ohio State mens’ soccer loses to Michigan State

The Ohio State men’s soccer team fell on the road to Michigan State Saturday 3-1. The loss moves the Buckeyes to under .500 on the season. Below is the complete release from the OSU athletic department.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (6-7-1, 1-3-1) fell to Michigan State (3-7-3, 3-1-1) by a 3-1 margin on the road Saturday. Junior Matteo Bennati scored his third goal of the season in the loss while senior Jack Holland added to his team-high in both assists (7) and points (15).

 MATCH SUMMARY

–           Ohio State scored first off a corner delivered by senior Jack Holland to junior Matteo Bennati, who scored his third goal of the season.

–           MSU tied the game at 1-all in the 40th minute.

–           Michigan State scored twice early in the second half to put the game away.

 MATCH NOTES

–           Holland leads the Big Ten in assists (7).

–           Xavier Kennedy made his first start of the season in goal for the Buckeyes. It was his seventh game played as a Buckeye.
