Ohio State men’s tennis takes over No. 1 spot in polls

Fresh off two top ten wins, including an upset of then No. 1 Tennessee, the Ohio State men’s tennis team has moved to No. 1 themselves according to both the ITA and the Tennis Channel / USTA College Tennis polls this week.

OSU has been among the best programs in the country over the last several years and consistently fought for that No. 1 spot, but it’s the first time since February 20 of 2019 that the Buckeyes have held the top spot. OSU fell short of a national title that season though, finishing at No. 3 in the polls.

This past weekend, Ohio State swept No. 1 Tennessee 4-0 before also taking care of No. 6 Virginia by the same score. The Buckeyes haven’t dropped a point in five matches.

OSU will next be in action against No. 10 Kentucky at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center on Friday. It’ll then be a quick turnaround to host No. 6 Wake Forest on Sunday.
