Ohio State men’s tennis advances to the semifinals of National Indoor Championship

The Ohio State men’s tennis team has advanced to the semifinals of the ITA National Indoor Tennis Championships. It got there by dominating No. 13 Virginia 4-0 Saturday.

The Buckeyes opened by taking the doubles point with wins by teams John McNally and Hunter Tubert as well as Martin Joyce and J.J. Wolf. Joyce then went to singles and beat No. 68 Gianni Ross 6-4, 6-3 to put OSU up 2-0, and shortly after Tubert kept things going by beating Aswin Lizen 6-2, 6-3 for a 3-0 Ohio State lead.

J.J. Wolf then sealed the deal against No. 119 Carl Soderland 6-3, 6-4 to clinch the match and team win for the Buckeyes — halting the action on other courts.

Ohio State will now face No. 6 Texas who disposed of USC 4-0 Sunday at 4:30 PM for a shot to go to the title. No. 1 seed Wake Forest and No. 10 Stanford face off in the other semifinal.
