Ohio State men’s soccer fell to Kentucky 2-1 Wednesday

The Ohio State men’s soccer team got went on the road to Lexington to play the Kentucky Wildcats Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was not a winning trip as Kentucky found a way to make some magic happen in the second half.

Here’s the complete release from the Ohio State athletic department.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (6-6-1) fell to No. 20 Kentucky (7-2-3) 2-1 in Lexington Wednesday. Kentucky scored a pair of second-half goals to come from behind to claim the win.

MATCH SUMMARY

–           The teams battled defensively over the first 45’ with UK attempting eight shots, but just one on goal. Ohio State attempted one shot in the half.

–           Both teams were on the offensive to start the second half but it was the Buckeyes who scored first when Xavier Green scored from Jack Holland in the 53’.

–           The Wildcats then scored twice for the win.

MATCH NOTES

–           The Buckeyes had gone six-consecutive games away from Columbus without a loss for the defeat at Kentucky. Ohio State has wins at Dayton, vs. Eastern Illinois, at Bowling Green, at South Florida and at Rutgers. The Buckeyes also tied Northwestern on the road.

–           For Xavier Green, it was goal No. 2 this season. Jack Holland, who entered the game No. 2 in the Big Ten in assists, recorded his sixth of the season on the Green goal.

–           Holland leads the Buckeyes with 14 points on the year.
