Ohio State men’s hockey wins game two against Merecyhurst 3-1

The Ohio State men’s hockey team took care of business easily in game one against Mercyhurst on Friday night, and if followed up by beating the Lakers 3-1 in game two Saturday.

Just like the first game, the Buckeyes lit the lamp first when Gustaf Westlund scored halfway through the first period to make it 1-0. After Mercyhurst answered just :26 later to tie the score at one apiece, Westlund struck again shortly after to make it 2-1. And that’s where things stood after one period of play.

Ohio State freshman Kamil Sadlocha tallied another score early in the second period on a redirect to extend the lead to 3-1 for the Buckeyes. The Ohio State defense would shut it down from there despite a few power plays back and forth and an extra attacker with the goalie pulled for the Lakers late in the game.

With the victory, Ohio State improves its record to 4-1-1 on the young season. The Buckeyes will next be in action at the Schott when it hosts Michigan next weekend.

That one should be fun as always.
