Ohio State looking good for fast-rising 2021 offensive tackle

Ohio State has missed out on a few of its big targets at the offensive tackle spot for the 2021 class. It’s not an immediate need, but the position group could suffer some depth issues if the Buckeyes aren’t able to continue to work on filling a need either this year or big-time next recruiting cycle.

And while the current 2021 class might eventually be one for the ages, there’s still a little room to address that very need if OSU believes it’s worth it. On that note, OSU appears to be courting a fast-rising three-star offensive tackle out of Indiana, Zen Michalski.

At 6-foot, 6-inches, and 288 pounds, Michalski was originally a Louisville commit. He jumped at the chance to accept an offer from a Power Five FBS program during the recruiting dead period for fear of losing out amid all the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then though, he’s been able to get on the field for his senior year of high school at Floyd Central and is turning heads. He’s picked up offers from the likes of Florida State, Penn State, Michigan State, and yes — Ohio State.

With his quick rise, it looks like the Buckeyes may have the inside track as well. Michalski talked to Eleven Warriors and explained why he recommitted from the Cardinals.

“It was the right spot at the time,” Michalski told Eleven Warriors. “But now, with different options, seeing everything else and seeing what everyone else has to offer, I just feel like I fit a little bit better somewhere else.

“(Louisville) just wasn’t my fit anymore. It felt a little rushed, just because of COVID and everything, and so many spots were filling up so fast.”

We’ll keep an eye on where this most recent recruiting news goes for Ohio State. There’s a chance we could get something soon fro Michalski, and if we do, we’ll be on top of it.
