Ohio State long snapper retiring from football for medical reasons

The Ohio State football team will be down a long snapper after Roen McCullough announced his retirement from the game for medical reasons. McCullough is the younger brother of former Buckeye long snapper Liam McCullough.

The announcement came via McCullough’s personal Twitter account where he disclosed that he had been diagnosed with a heart condition last year. He also shared that he had torn his shoulder which required surgery over the summer.

McCullough was cleared to play in the spring game and made an appearance at linebacker due to lack of able bodies. During the game, he recorded four tackles and one pass breakup and added that it was his most memorable moment as a member of the football team.

While McCullough was seen as the eventual successor to his older brother, he never saw the field in an actual game. Sixth-year senior and starter in 2020, Bradley Robinson, is returning as the top long snapper on the depth chart. Freshman and Pickerington native, Max Lomonico, will serve as the backup long snapper this season.

We wish McCullough nothing but positive thoughts.
