Ohio State linebacker Justin Hilliard suffers Achilles injury per reports

The injury news seems to keep coming out of Ohio State’s Spring camp as of late. Earlier this week, it was reported that wide-receiver Kamryn Babb had suffered a season-ending “non-contact” knee injury, and now the latest news.

According to Austin Ward of Letterman Row, linebacker Justin Hilliard has suffered an Achilles injury, has already undergone surgery and is out indefinitely.

Unfortunately for Hilliard, who came to Ohio State as one of the most athletically gifted linebackers you’ll find out of high school, the injury history has been extensive.

He has suffered some bicep injuries at different times of his career, but has battled back and has been an inspiration for many on the team for his ability to persevere and still contribute on special teams. Going into his senior season, his athleticism and ability to play multiple spots at linebacker could have been a major factor with a new coach running the show.

Now he’ll have to battle through yet another injury. There could of course be an option of a medical redshirt, but that will all depend on Hilliard’s ability to rehab, heal and be fully healthy somewhere beyond the start of the season.

Here’s to wishing Hilliard a speedy recovery and ability to get back on the field.
