Ohio State hockey’s Mason Jobst one of ten finalists for Hobey Baker Award

Ohio State men’s hockey player Mason Jobst has been named as one of ten semifinalists for what is considered the Heisman of college hockey — the Hobey Baker Award.

The award, voted on by sixty college hockey coaches to reach ten finalists, is awarded annually by a thirteen member selection committee to the player judged to be the best collegiate hockey player in the country.

The 5-8, 180 lb. senior from Speedway, Indiana may be small in stature, but he’s come up big time after time for Ohio State. He’s a two-time captain, multiple-year All Big Ten performer and active NCAA points leader.

His 3 on 3 overtime goal against Michigan late in the year clinched the Big Ten regular season title for the Buckeyes. Simply put, he’ll go down as an all-timer on the ice at Ohio State and will leave a huge hole to fill going into next season.

The winner of the award will be announced at the Frozen Four in Buffalo, NY on April 12th. It will be televised live on the NHL Network at 6PM Eastern.

In the meantime, you can participate in the fan vote, and cast yours for Jobst up until March 31.
