The Basketball Tournament is gaining traction with the basketball-loving community and at least three Buckeyes will be featured in the quarterfinals that begin Thursday night.
Recently releasing a post on the top 25 players left in TBT, ESPN noted three Buckeyes. For those dedicated fans, they’ll remember these names as they were all highly popular Buckeyes during their time in Columbus.
Sadly, these three are in this tournament because they never found traction in the NBA yet want a chance to win the $2 million winner-take-all prize.
As for the ranking, the first on the list for Ohio State is William Buford. Buford played at OSU from 2008-2012 and is the offensive motor of the Buckeye-led Carmen’s Crew.
At Ohio State, Buford averaged double digits all four years and over 14 points per game his last three. Buford is currently in the Greek Basket League.
An all-time Buckeye favorite Aaron Craft is next on the list. He comes in at No. 17. Known for his defensive intensity, Craft has brought that and his developed all-around to Carmen’s Crew, making them a quarterfinalist.
The Crew’s leader, Craft has snagged over three steals per game, making him one of the tournament’s best defensive players. Are you really surprised though?
Lastly is David Lighty. A deceivingly incredible scorer, Lighty is averaging over 15 points per game. Playing at Ohio State from 2006-2011, Lighty was instrumental in the team’s 34-3 2010-2011 season.
