Ohio State fourth in CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein offseason B1G Power Rankings

Ohio State basketball can often be the forgotten sport in Columbus. Not because people don’t care, but because it sneaks up on everyone right at the tail-end of college football season when things are normally in championship mode.

So, as a reminder, though college football season hasn’t even gotten under way yet, we’re only about four months away from the start of the college basketball season. Yes, we are really that close despite licking our chops for Big Ten Media Days at the end of this week.

So it’s no surprise that there’s preseason predictions and rankings being tossed about all over the internet. One of those has been promoted by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and it’s of the Big Ten variety. He power ranked the Big Ten teams for this point in the offseason and has the Buckeyes as the fourth best team in the league.

He, like many others believe that Michigan State is the class of the league once again, so that’s no surprise. In-between the Spartans and Buckeyes he has Maryland (2), and Purdue (3). The Boilermakers high power-ranking is a little surprising after losing Carsen Edwards as well as senior leader Ryan Cline, but then again, Matt Painter always seems to get it figured out.

Michigan is all the way down at No. 9. We’ll see if that plays out to be true with Juwan Howard taking over.

Do you think Ohio State is being overlooked, or about right?
