Ohio State forward Kaleb Wesson named to Naismith Watch List

Ohio Sate junior power forward Kaleb Wesson was named to the Naismith Award preseason watch list Monday. He joins fifty college basketball players identified as having the potential to win the most coveted individual award in college basketball.

At 6-9, 270 lbs. (or lighter now), the Buckeyes are counting on Wesson to make that additional leap and be even more of factor in 2019-2020. So far, he’s shown more agility and an ability to stay out of foul trouble this preseason. He’ll need to show that he’s grown in those areas, in addition to improvement in his conditioning so that he can be the player he’s being counted on to be.

The full list of players on the watch list can be found by clicking on the below Tweet link from @NaismithTophy, or by heading directly to the award’s website.

Other Big Ten players on the list include Anthony Cowan and Jalen Smith of Maryland, Ayo Dosunmu of Illinois, Zavier Simpson of Michigan, Lamar Stevens of Penn State, and Michigan State’s Xavier Tillman and Cassius Winston.

The list will be culled down to 30 players in February, with the winner ultimately being chosen between four finalists during the Final Four on April 5 in Atlanta.
