Ohio State Football with two first-round picks in recent CBS NFL Mock Draft

The Ohio State football program has one of the best defenses in college football, and in just about every 2020 NFL Mock Draft, they’re well represented. The most recent mock by CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards was no different.

Edwards has two Buckeyes in the top-ten picks, both on the defensive side of the ball.

Chase Young, who may end up as a finalist for Heisman, is drafted with the second overall pick by the Miami Dolphins. Young has been the best defensive player in the nation. In fact, he might be the best regardless of position. He is a game-wrecker.

In just eight games, Young has already amassed 13.5 sacks. He could easily set the team’s school record in multiple categories. An absolute force, Young as a top-five pick is an easy choice and a near lock.

However, at No. 2, above Jerry Jeudy and Joe Burrow, is a risky place for the elite defensive end.

The Buckeyes’ second player in the top ten is cornerback Jeff Okudah. He’s projected to go to the New York Giants with the seventh overall selection and is the first cornerback taken according to Edwards.

Okudah has just 21 combined tackles in just seven games. These are, in part, because quarterbacks know not to throw in his direction, targeting Damon Arnette more often.

Although players like K.J. Hill, J.K Dobbins, and Arnette may also have a chance at being a first-round selection, for now, it’s only Young and Okudah being projected as top 32 picks.
