Ohio State football ranked No. 7 in early S&P+ Rankings for 2019

The early S&P+ rankings have have been released for the upcoming 2019 college football season, and Ohio State checks in at No. 7. The formula used for calculating the rankings are a combination of returning talent, recruiting, and a five-year weighted history.

And of course the rankings have a very SEC flavor with Alabama at No. 1 followed by Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Oklahoma, and then Florida.

Last year, Ohio State and Alabama were tied atop the first rankings, followed by Clemson, Washington and Auburn in the top five.

The Buckeyes must replace Heisman Finalist QB Dwayne Haskins, but have a bevvy of talent returning on both sides of the ball. The are also welcoming one of the bet quarterback prospects ever as a transfer from Georgia. You know him by the name of Justin Fields.

These things are fun to talk about, but don’t mean a hill of beans once the season starts, and in fact, Ohio State seems to be a little low on this list because of an overemphasis on the most recent recruiting class.

Anyway, the release of these rankings typically means spring is just around the corner, so perk up Buckeye fans.
