Ohio State football names its Players of the Week for game against FAU

Ohio State took care of business Saturday against Florida Atlantic, and although there was some slop at times, it was a week one win that you have to savor. Now it’s time to correct those things that were exposed to become a better football team. You can bet the coaching staff is hard at work on that front.

As is customary by the Ohio State coaching staff, it named its players of the week Monday. There was Defensive Player of the Week, Offensive Player of the Week, and Special Teams Player of the Week.

Stats courtesy of the tweets below from the official Twitter feed of Ohio State Football.

First up, as you would suspect, new starting quarterback Justin Fields was named Ohio State’s Offensive Player of the Week. All he did was set a program record by scoring more touchdowns than any other OSU player has in a debut with five total.

Defensive Player of the Week goes to two players, defensive end Chase Young and linebacker Malik Harrison.

Lastly, the Special Teams Player of the Week was awarded to two players as well, Demario McCall and Isaiah Pryor.

Congrats to all five of these guys. We’ll need more from them as the season goes on, and in earnest against Cincinnati this weekend.
