Ohio State football loses out to Georgia on five-star linebacker Mekhail Sherman

Five-star linebacker Mikhail Sherman has picked Georgia over Ohio State. The 6-3, 243 lb. outside backer from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. had recently narrowed his choices down to just the Bulldogs and Buckeyes, but according to an announcement on Twitter by Rusty Mansell of 247Sports, and since retweeted by Sherman himself, the journey is over.

Georgia has won the recruiting battle, and there’s no doubt it’s a significant disappointment for Ohio State who has been putting a premium on bringing in the type of linebackers that will change a perceived drop off in recent years.

According to 247Sports, Sherman had offers from nearly all the big boys in college football and is rated as the No. 2 outside linebacker and overall No. 11 recruit in the entire country for the class of 2020.

Ryan Day and staff continue to try and add to a class that is a little behind where it’s been the last few years under Urban Meyer, and this latest news won’t go very far for sparking any sort of momentum.

However, there’s still plenty of time left before anyone should judge any kind of finished product.
