The 2021 NFL Draft will kick off on April 29th in Cleveland, Ohio, and there will be plenty of Ohio State football players ready to hear their names called. To ramp up for the event, we are attempting to determine the best all-around comparison and best Ohio State alum comparison for each prospect. We have covered a few of the Ohio State prospects in this series, most recently Wyatt Davis, Luke Farrell & Florida transfer Trevon Grimes (yes, he played for Ohio State originally).
Today we are going to dive into early-round center prospect Josh Myers. The Ohio native committed to becoming a Buckeye as a sophomore in high school and finished his decorated high school career as a consensus four-star recruit. Myers lived up to the hype during his collegiate career earning All-Big Ten honors his last two seasons.
Player Profile

Ohio State C Josh Myers said that he had a pretty bad turf toe and foot injury that he suffered in the Big 10 championship.

NEXT … The closest all-around comp to Myers
All-around Comparison: Ryan Kelly
Kelly was drafted in the first round of the 2016 draft by the Indianapolis Colts and was an immediate plug-and-play starter who performed at an elite level. He has even earned All-Pro honors in 2020 and was twice named to the Pro Bowl.
Despite Kelly being selected in the first round and Myers being projected as a second-round selection, I believe Myers is actually a better prospect than Kelly was. Both players are extremely consistent and play with veteran-like football IQs. The reason I believe Myers is slightly better is due to him being stronger than Kelly was coming out of Alabama.
Ryan Kelly makes it 6 All Pros for the Colts!! Congrats Ryan!!

NEXT … Best former Ohio State comp
Davis’ best Buckeye Comparison: Billy Price
Price was drafted in the first round of the 2018 draft to the Cincinnati Bengals and was a better prospect than Myers is currently, but he has not lived up to his draft slot. Both Myers and Price are viewed as highly intelligent players, but Price came into the league with more versatility as he had extensive experience at both center and guard. Despite having more issues as a prospect, my money is on Myers having a better NFL career.
