We have now entered the month of the 2021 NFL draft, and in a few weeks, we will know exactly where each former Ohio State football players will be playing professionally. We have done our best to provide a brief breakdown of a few of the eligible Ohio State prospects including most recently, Jonathon Cooper, Josh Myers and Wyatt Davis.
Today we are looking into defensive tackle, Tommy Togiai who arrived to Columbus as the number three defensive tackle recruit in the country, and he did not disappoint. Togiai’s accomplishments are even more impressive when you consider that he came from the small town of Pocatello, Idaho. Below is his best overall comparison and his best Ohio State alum comparison.

NEXT … The closest all-around comp to Togiai
All-around Comparison: Larry Ogunjobi
Ogunjobi was drafted in the third round of the 2017 draft to the Cleveland Browns and has been very solid since hearing his name called. He was able to parlay his solid play to a large contract with the Cincinnati Bengals during this off-season.
Togiai is a better prospect than Ogunjobi was coming out in 2017, but they are both similar in the fact that they rely heavily on their elite strength. Despite being the strongest linemen in their respective classes, they both lack the ideal length to make pass rushing easier.

Togiai’s best Buckeye Comparison: Adolphus Washington
Washington was a third round selection to the Buffalo Bills in the 2016 NFL draft and was viewed as a steal at the time, but his career was a tad disappointing. Washington had a decent three year stint in Buffalo and only had cups of coffees with the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins before exiting the league for good in 2019.
Togiai is a better overall prospect than Washington was back in 2016, but both have an elite athleticism to size ratio. I do believe Togiai will have a better career due to his unique football instincts, but only time will tell.
