Ohio State finishes 12th in final 2019 Director’s Cup Standings

It’s all about bragging rights, and The Ohio State University checks in at number 12 in the Director’s Cup standings for the past calendar year.

Every year, colleges and universities compete for glory in the Director’s Cup. Per division, each college or university is awarded points for their finish in some of the top sports, with the winner of all points combined receiving the mythical title from the National Association of College Directors of Athletics.

And almost every year, Stanford has won the thing. Upon its introduction in 1993, the University of North Carolina took home the title, but since then it’s been all Cardinal all the time, and it’s no different this year.

Ohio State has done well in the past, finishing as high as No. 2 in 2017, and almost always finishes in the top 25, but this year was just a ho-hum affair for the Buckeyes. While most programs would love to finish No. 12 in the final standings, OSU has been one of those that has historically had the best chance of knocking Stanford from its perch.
