Ohio State drops season finale to Michigan State 3-2

Now the fun stuff begins.

The Ohio State men’s hockey team ran away and hid from the rest of the Big Ten during the regular season, so the last couple of games have been a little lacking in drama.

The Buckeyes took game one in the last weekend series against the Spartans at home Friday night, but fell Saturday by a final score of 3-2.

The first period didn’t see anyone light the lamp, but the Spartans opened the scoring with 14:08 left in the second period on a power play goal. Ohio State answered later in the second when Wyatt Ege scored on a power play goal with 9:23 left in the period to tie it at 1-1.

The third period however belonged to Michigan State. It got two goals in the first ten minutes to go up 3-1 and put an uphill climb in front of the Buckeyes.

Ohio State left the net empty to get the extra attacker on and got one goal back, but couldn’t complete the rally and fell by one goal. But it wasn’t enough to put a damper on the fact that Ohio State will raise a banner for its first Big Ten Championship and be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament.
