Ohio State drops in ESPN’s week 10 college football power rankings

Week ten is in the books, although week three for Ohio State football and ESPN has released its latest power rankings. The Buckeyes drop a spot to third after a strange win over Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights’ trick plays and going all out against OSU probably hurt, but not as much as Notre Dame beating Clemson did.

Alabama stayed in first place after its win and with Notre Dame’s victory, the Fighting Irish moved up from third to second. The fact that Clemson was without quarterback Trevor Lawrence didn’t help the Tigers who stayed in fourth place. Texas A&M jumped from ninth to fifth to round out the top five.

Texas A&M jumping both BYU and Cincinnati was the big surprise. The Cougars looked really good against Boise State and Cincinnati demolished Houston. A&M beating Florida earlier probably helped some, but it was certainly not expected. The other small surprise was Indiana falling one spot, but Florida getting a little more respect for beating a good Georgia team had a lot to do with it.

As we roll into week eleven, anything can happen. I mean, it is the year 2020. Indiana and Alabama look to remain undefeated with games against Michigan State and LSU respectively. As is the case with Ohio State, it takes on a Maryland team that looks to be much more improved.
