Ohio State defensive end Chase Young appears on Bednarik preseason watch list

Ohio State defensive end Chase Young is expected to do big things this year. As such, he was announced as a part of the Bednarik preseason watch list handed out to the best defensive player in college football. Not that he was a slouch last year after being the main pass-rusher to fill the hole created by the injured Nick Bosa, but an extra year of seasoning should result in a leap in production in 2019.

At 6-5, 265 lbs., Young is heading into his junior year as one of the most feared defensive lineman in the league — perhaps the country. He has Brut strength and can get off the edge extremely quick for a guy his size.

Young had 34 total tackles last year — 10.5 of them for sacks. He has appeared in multiple 2020 NFL Draft projections as a top five to top ten pick before the season has even started. Now it’s up to him to show the production on the field.

Ohio State has never had a player win the Bednarik Award, so no pressure …
