OK, Ohio State fans, we have some good news for you that came out of the College Football Playoff media availability on Wednesday. It was that time of the week in which we got to hear from some defensive players and coaches, and one of those was cornerback Marcus Williamson.
While he touched on several topics, he surprised everyone by confirming that he’s coming back next season before all the hoopla of the national championship game even gets off the ground.
I’m still enjoying being a Buckeye, man,” Williamson told reporters. “This year has been just crazy. I know we’ve had a shortened season. We’ve lost games here or there, and I’m just ready to come back and help our unit get to the standard that we know we hold ourselves to and that we should be. Like I say, I’m too happy to be a Buckeye, man. I’m not ready to leave yet. Still got unfinished business.”
Williamson is the first Ohio State player to go on record that he’s planning on taking advantage of that extra year of eligibility because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With his return, it would add a much needed veteran presence to the lineup for next season.
There are others though that did not take part in virtual Senior Day that we’re all waiting to hear from. But that’s for another story on another day.
