It’s that time of year when most of the recruiting services are updated their star-rating and rankings for the prospects in their recruiting classes. And on that note, there’s a new No. 1 rated recruit when it comes to the 247Sports Composite Index. That prospect would be Jack Sawyer out of Pickerington North High School just a stones throw from the ‘Shoe.

At 6-5, 220 lbs., Sawyer has a frame that will only put on more weight before he gets to Columbus. Get him in the weight room with Micky Marotti and he’ll continue to fill out even more once he’s wearing the Scarlet and Gray. But it’s not just his size that makes him attractive. He’s also fast and rangy for a defensive end and can create havoc around the edge, and in pursuit. He’s an extremely athletic kid that also excelled on the basketball court.
