Ohio State big man Kaleb Wesson named second team All-Big Ten by the coaches and media

The Big Ten regular-season has mercifully concluded for all those aches and pains players on all fourteen teams are nursing, and that means it’s time for some recognition by the conferences’ coaches and media. Yep, it’s the annual parade of the All Big-Ten teams.

There aren’t a ton of things to highlight for Ohio State, but the one noteworthy exception is the inclusion of big man Kaleb Wesson on the Big Ten’s second team for both the coaches and the media.

Joining Wesson on the second team between both the media and coaches selections are Michigan’s Zavier Simpson, Michigan State’s Xavier Tillman, Minnesota’s Daniel Oturu, Illinois’ Avo Dosunmu, and Maryland’s Anthony Cowah, Jr.

It’s the second-straight year Wesson has been honored. He was recognized as honorable mention all-conference last season but improved his body and all-around game after flirting with leaving early for the NBA last year.

This season, Wesson almost averaged a double-double, scoring 14.0 points and pulling down 9.3 rebounds per contest. He also dramatically overhauled his outside shooting, nailing 42.5% of his 3-point attempts.

No other Ohio State player was recognized by the Big Ten, but the first-team all-conference squad is mighty impressive no matter what school you root for. Iowa’s Luka Garza, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston, Penn State’s Lamar Stevens, Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu, and Maryland’s Anthony Cowan Jr and Jalen Smith made the cut between both the media and coaches.
