Ohio State basketball gets commitment from 4-star guard Meechie Johnson

Ohio State basketball has landed one of its top targets for the 2021 recruiting cycle. Four-star guard Meechie Johnson out of Garfield Heights, OH took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes.

At 5-11, 160 lbs., what Johnson lacks in size, he makes up in quickness, ball-handling, and shooting ability. He’s a well-rounded guard that can get others involved but can also get to the lane and all the way to the rim with penetration.

Johnson has been out because of a knee injury last season but has been rehabbing and healing and expects to be back on the floor at some point in his junior season. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is a top 100 recruit in the class, and third overall in Ohio.

You can watch his commitment video below.

The commitment is the second in the 2021 class for Chris Holtmann and company, joining 6-8 power forward Kalen Etzler. It’s early of course, but right now, the class ranks as the top in the Big Ten and country.
