Ohio State basketball 2019 commit D.J. Carton named Iowa Mr. Basketball

Bettendorf, Iowa point guard D.J. Carton has been named Mr. Basketball in Iowa. Why are we telling you about things that happen among corn fields and silos? Because Carton is committed to play basketball at Ohio State next year as a part of a pretty remarkable 2019 recruiting class.

Carton held offers from several big-time programs and was ultimately a part of a very competitive recruiting battle between Ohio State, Michigan and Iowa. He was thought to be leaning towards the Wolverines before falling in love with head coach Chris Holtmann and the Buckeye program late.

He is the second 2019 recruit to be named Mr. Basketball in his state, joining E.J. Liddell out of Illinois. There’s still the current Buckeye basketball season to finish up, but you can bet things will be even more exciting next season.
