Ohio State baseball notches opening day win against Seton Hall

The Ohio State baseball team had its first game of the season today, and it was a victorious one with a 4-3 victory over Seton Hall.

Starting pitcher Seth Lonsway went six innings, allowing just three hits and one run for the Buckeyes to notch his first ever win. Griffan Smith picked up the save for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning via a ground out sacrifice by Dominic Canzone. Seton Hall tied it on a wild pitch in the top of the fourth, but Lonsway was able to pitch out of a serious jam the same inning to keep the score tied.

Canzone struck again in the fifth with a long ball to regain the lead for Ohio State, then the Buckeyes tacked on a couple of more in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a two-run single by Conner Pohl.

The Pirates rallied to 4-3 on a two-run home run in the top of the eighth but would be shut down from there.

The Buckeyes will play Seton Hall in the second of a three game set Saturday at 2PM, and will conclude the series on Sunday at Noon.
