Ohio State baseball loses 9-3 to Lipscomb

After thrashing Lipscomb in its home opener yesterday, the Ohio State baseball team couldn’t duplicate the offensive output and fell to the Bisons 9-3 Saturday.

Ohio State got on the board first thanks to a sacrifice fly by Nate Romans in the bottom of the fourth to make it 1-0, but Lipscomb quickly answered in the top of the fifth inning, scoring three runs on back-to-back doubles to take a 3-1 lead.

With the Bison up 5-2, the Buckeyes pushed across one more run in the bottom of the seventh when Dominic Canzone tripled off the wall to bring home Noah West to close to within 5-3.

But that would be as close as OSU would get.

Lipscomb effectively put things out of reach with a grand slam in the top of the ninth inning to make it 9-3, and that’s where the scoring ended.

The Buckeyes now drop to one game under .500 at 8-9 and will try to get back into the win column tomorrow 1:05 PM at Bill Davis Stadium.
