Ohio State Baseball gets back in win column with victory over Oral Roberts

The Buckeyes got the offense rolling against the Eagles of Oral Roberts, and this time the pitching held up its end of the deal in a 8-3 victory for the scarlet and gray.

The scoring got started with a sacrifice fly by Dominic Canzone in the bottom of the first, but things really exploded in the fourth inning for Ohio state. After a two-run RBI single by Malik Jones, Canzone struck again, this time with a three-run bomb to give Ohio State a commanding 7-0 lead.

From there, the Eagles were able to scratch across three runs, but never got close enough to threaten as starting pitcher Griffan Smith got the win by going five innings, giving up just one run on three hits and five strikeouts. It’s his second win of the season in as many tries.

For the Buckeyes, the win moved their record to 5-2 with just one more game to go in Texas. It’ll be a rematch tomorrow of the drama-filled walk-off loss that occurred yesterday against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. That game will take place at 3:00 PM.
