Ohio State Baseball beats Toledo in a mid-week home contest

The Ohio State baseball team played one more midweek non-conference tuneup, as it hosted in-state opponent Toledo Wednesday.

Dominica Canzone was the star offensively today for the Buckeyes. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs to pace the Ohio State at the plate. Zach Dezenzo also had a home run and three RBIs for the Bucks who won going away 9-4.

The Buckeyes got on the board early with some help from Toledo in the bottom of the first inning. Thanks to a wild pitch and a dropped ball at first on a third strike, OSU used two hits to score two runs to get out in front by a couple early.

The Rockets came back in the top of the second with a two out, two-run single to tie the game at 2 a piece. But then Ohio State exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second inning with most of the damage being done by Zach Dezenzo on a 3-run bomb. OSU would add three more runs throughout the game, and that would be more than enough.

Staring pitcher Jake Vance got a quality outing for the win, throwing six innings of three run baseball, giving up eight hits, while striking out six and walking two. It is is second win of the year for the right-hander.

Ohio State will now hit the road  for a three game Friday to Sunday series at Rutgers as Big Ten play starts to dominate the schedule.
