Ohio State baseball adds Brad Goldberg to coaching staff

There’s still a winter (hopefully not brutal) to go before the Ohio State baseball team breaks the seal on the spring 2020 season, but that doesn’t mean things stay stagnant. And as such, we have a nugget to pass along.

Ohio State head coach Greg Beals released some news today regarding an addition to his coaching staff. Former Buckeye pitcher Brad Goldberg has been added to the coaching staff as the Director of Pitching Development and will assist pitching coach Dan DeLucia.

“I am very excited to have back in the program helping develop the next championship,” Beals said through the release. “After his playing days as a Buckeye, Brad went on to play professionally, gaining great experience and knowledge that will greatly complement Coach DeLucia, myself and our entire coaching staff. We look forward to learning and continuing to forge our philosophies together. Goldy brings a great understanding of pitching and the application of technology and data to assist the development of our pitching staff. Brad has a passion for the game, this great University and our baseball program.”

Goldberg had an All-Big Ten career at Ohio State and spent six years in the professional ranks between the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks organizations. He even got a cup of coffee in 2017, appearing in eleven games in the big leagues for the Chi-Sox.

“This University and the baseball program have afforded me great opportunities and introduced me to some of my closest friends,” Goldberg was quoted in the release. “I am motivated to provide Coach DeLucia with digestible and relevant data and analytics but even more to cultivate relationships within the team and University. I am elated to come back to wear the scarlet and gray and I can’t thank Coach Beals enough.”
