Popular influencer and comedian Damon Darling claims that he has been banned from Walmart, where he regularly filmed wholesome content in which he paid for strangers’ groceries. Following the ban, Darling announced he would no longer film content at the store.
Viral footage shared by Darling shows a police officer apparently addressing Darling (who isn’t seen but can be heard). “So you guys are both getting issued trespass warnings from Walmart, OK?” The officer tells them, “You guys are no longer allowed to go to any Walmarts, any Sam’s Clubs, or any Murphy gas stations for life.”
Darling, whose videos depicting him buying people’s groceries gained him fame on social media platforms such as Instagram, where he has 2.6 million followers, was essentially exiled from the stores that he had used to create his content. His videos typically consisted of him approaching customers and engaging in conversation before offering to help them out, and fans had deemed him to be a “wholesome” individual.
Fans call for a Walmart boycott
So it’s no surprise that there has been a strong negative backlash online to the news of Darling’s exile. On X, some of his die-hard fans vowed to boycott the store, assuming that Walmart had banned him simply for making his innocent videos on the store property.

“I’ll cancel my subscription asap if y’all don’t make this right,” Fellow influencer Tanisha Thomas warned Walmart, tagging the company’s Instagram page in her comment. “So it’s now Illegal to spread joy?” Asked another prominent influencer, while a third wrote a warning to the company, claiming Walmart had made a “big mistake.”
Damon Darling thinks older videos are to blame
Speaking to TMZ about the ban, Darling claimed that his older videos may have been a significant factor in why Walmart made the decision to ban him. While acknowledging that he did make more disruptive content at Walmart years ago, he claimed that his videos had changed: “My content has completely evolved into wholesome content.” In the past, Darling had also occasionally gotten in trouble with Walmart employees.
A spokesperson for Walmart shed more light on the ban, claiming that “Mr. Darling has repeatedly violated our policies through disruptive behavior and trespassing, unrelated to any charitable giving.”
Despite saying he no longer films controversial skits in Walmart, Darling has stated that he will adhere to the ban, “I respect their wishes,” he told TMZ, “I’m at a point where I’m just gonna do what they ask me and not come back and not film at their business.” Darling also discouraged fans from boycotting Walmart, saying, “I don’t want any problems.”
