Ohannes Burger opens third site in Notts and announces another four takeaways

A gourmet burger takeaway promising "a little bliss in every bite" has opened in Sherwood.

Ohannes Burger UK has revamped an empty property, in Mansfield Road, which now has space for customers to eat in as well as offering takeaway and home delivery.

The burgers, which come in a brioche bun, are made using 100% local beef. Alternatively, there's a veggie burger with pea protein and beetroot, salsa and caramelised onions.

The bread is baked daily and everything else is handmade including the patties and sauces.

Offering 14 different types, burger lovers can get stuck into everything from a classic cheeseburger to pulled beef, with salsa, red kidney beans and jalapenos or a peri peri chicken burger.

Sides include fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, fries and buttermilk chicken bites.

The concept, which originated in Turkey nearly ten years ago, opened its first branch in the UK last November in Arnold. A second branch in the city centre, opened in Long Row, during the height of the pandemic in May.

A further four more sites are planned in Beeston, West Bridgford, Mansfield and Ilkeston in coming months.

Sherwood franchisee Erkan Balanur said: "It's good for the community and Sherwood is a huge community. It's getting busier and busier every day and customers are returning. They are happy.

"The capacity inside is 15 but because of coronavirus we are keeping it down to 11 people."

Co-founder Mehmet Yazicioglu, who has a string of burger joints in his home country of Turkey, has been helping the restaurant to set up and believes "they'll do wonders here."

Negotiations are underway for premises in West Bridgford and Beeston and a lease has been agreed in Ilkeston. The search is on for a property in Mansfield.

Spokesman Goktan Sendervent said: "If it hadn't been for Covid slowing things down we would have had eight or nine by now."
