Jonjoe Kenny has become the latest English youngster to head to the Bundesliga – joining Schalke on a season long-loan from Everton.

Kenny, 22, will link up with former Huddersfield manager David Wagner following England’s Under-21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino.

And Schalke announced the move on Twitter in hilarious fashion, super-imposing their new player’s face onto South Park character Kenny with the caption: ‘Oh my God, they signed Kenny!’

Kenny becomes the latest English youngster to head for Germany looking for first-team opportunities.

With Jadon Sancho one of the league’s best players since joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017, Reece Oxford, Ademola Lookman, Reiss Nelson, Ryan Kent, Kaylen Hinds, Mandela Egbo, Keanan Bennetts and Kevin Danso have also had spells with clubs in the German top flight.

Kenny has had loan spells at Wigan and Oxford earlier on his career and made nine appearances for The Toffees under Marco Silva last season.

Schalke finished in a disappointing 14th place last term.
